Obituary

Milmore James McLaughlin

Jim McLaughlin died peacefully on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Overlook Hospital, Summit, New Jersey, at the age of 87.

Born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, Jim attended St. Patrick's Elementary School and Saint Peter's Prep. He also attended St. Peter's College and earned a BA in Business. Jim worked for NJ Bell Telephone Company where he began as a coin box collector and worked his way up to Marketing Manager and retired from the company after 37 years of service. During his lifetime, he was a proud member of the National Guard and Army Reserves and a longtime volunteer for the Newark Jaycees.

Jim loved the Jersey Shore, the beach, the ocean and walking the boardwalk. He enjoyed traveling to the Islands, and listening to the music of Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis and Tony Bennett. Jim was a great chef and found pleasure in taking cooking classes and making gourmet meals for his friends and family. Jim was a longtime and fervent NY Giants Football fan going all the way back to the 1950's and never missed a game. He passed on his love of football and team spirit to his friends and family.

Jim is survived by his loving daughter, Madeline McLaughlin and her husband Donald Carolan, his grandchildren, James Carolan (and wife Katie), Sara Carolan, two great grandchildren, his dearest friend and devoted companion, Georgia Marie Lassiter, and her daughter Kyndall. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Ann Cavalli and four nieces.

A mass will be held at St. Michaels at 9:00 a.m. on March 22, 2022. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Center for Hope Hospice, 111 DeHart Place, Elizabeth, NJ 07202.
