Loving Mother and Grandmother

Diane Morris, 82, went home to the Lord on December 2, 2020 engulfed with the love and prayers of her family. Born in Elizabeth in 1938 to Philomena and Louis Perrella, she spent most of her young life doing what she loved most, dancing ballet. She was the youngest student accepted to the American School of Ballet in NYC at the age of 7, where she danced under Balanchine and alongside Rudolf Nureyev. She continued to dance until an ankle injury at 16 years old took her life in a different direction. At that time she turned to working in her parents business, Lou's Smoke Shop on Morris Ave in Elizabeth. It was there that 3 years later she would meet her future husband, John Morris. They always thought it funny that she met the man she would marry, John Morris on Morris Ave.
Diane and John were wed for almost 50 years and had 2 children John and Jennifer and enjoyed raising their family in Cranford. John and his wife Kenna lived in NYC and Jennifer, her husband Roger and their children Zachary and Emma lived in Cranford. Her 2 grandchildren Zach and Emma were the light of her life. She enjoyed watching Zach perform in his many musical theater productions and had a very special bond with Emma. She also loved vacationing in Cape May with her family, and grabbing a box of fudge to go from Fudge Kitchen to end each trip.
Diane spent the last 10 years of her working life as the Assistant to the Town Clerk at the Township of Cranford where she made some wonderful friendships. A graduate of St. Mary's High School class of 1956 in Elizabeth, she stayed in close contact with many of her classmates. They would meet for monthly lunches and loved going to the theater together.
She was predeceased by her husband John (2010) and her son John (2019). She is survived by her Daughter Jennifer, son in law Roger, grandson Zach and his future Wife Rachel and granddaughter Emma.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday. December 14, 2020 at 10m at
